What is Katie Beckett Part B?
The Katie Beckett Part B Program is designed to cater to children experiencing disabilities or complex medical needs. Children enrolled in Part B are not enrolled in Medicaid. Instead, they receive up to $10,000 annually for services tailored to their needs.
Families have the option to pick from different services including: help with health insurance premiums, a healthcare reimbursement account, money back for services not covered by the account, respite care they manage, home care support, or services from local providers.
Every family gets an ISC or Katie Beckett Case manager. They help apply for services for the family and their child. The manager also helps create a Person Centered Support Plan. Once the plan is ready and approved, the manager stays in touch, reaching out at least once a month to talk about supports and services. Families are welcome to contact their case manager anytime, especially for service questions, during hospital stays, or when there are changes in their child's situation that need planning.
